I didn't realise that it had been so long since my last post.

Well, I have been rather busy, exams and uni and stuff. But I have been to see a number of shows since my last blog. There was Dirty Dancing in the Summer (2009)Avenue Q, then Forbidden Broadway, Avenue Q again, Wicked, twice since, Chicago and Megan Mullally recently, all of which have proved to be enjoyable and well worth the money paid for them. They are all well worth watching and seeing.

Coming up this Sunday there is Stephanie J Blocks' concert which includes Oliver Tompsett, Annalene Beechy (Plus Baby Bump *Congratualtions Annalene*) and SJB's Pirate Queen male Lead, Hadley Fraser (TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILIBLE!!!!) Then there's We Will Rock you in March and Wicked cast change on the 27th. (So many are leaving!)

Welll I think thats a basic overview of my last year. I shall try and better at updating this, but at the moment I don't know if I shall have the time to. So much work to do. :(

Spring Awakening 23rd May 2009 (A week before it closed in London)

Ok so on Saturday after work, I went up to London with some friends to see Spring Awakening, just about a week before it closes in London.

And well what can I say? My friends dayticketed for me, meaning we got some awesome front row seats for the evening performance, which means we were right up close to the stage and the actors (Droolage!!!)

Anyways, after Lunch at Waggamummas for Abbie's birthday, we went to the Spring Awakening Stage Door to wait for the Matinee to finish. And can I just take a minute to say how different the stage dooring for Spring Awakening is to that of Wicked? No barriers for one thing!!! And the stage door was left open. We considered rushing it- but to no avail!!!

Anyway we caught many people coming out after the Matinee (See pictures below) and I got this free magazine with Spring Awakening in it and got them to sign it. They were really lovely people, some were probably younger than I was. Actually I know they were younger than I was!!! It was strange because they didn't act it. They could have easily have been as old as the Wicked cast members!!!

Anyway, so we got signitures and pictures and then trotted round to the front of the theater, and I got myself a couple of programs, and both posters (Which I got signed after the show).

Once we were in the threater, I have to admitt I was a little worried about what it would be back- the OBC soundtrack doesn't do it much justice- possibly part of the reason why it's closing??? Just a thought!

Anyways, it started in due course and I must say it was mesmorising, the colours, the set, the songs!!! The Cast was amazingly talented!!! Well you sort of have to be, to be on the Stage!

Apparently I went Bright red during "My Junk" and "I believe"! Well in "I Believe" you do get to see the lead Male's very supply nice butt, and the lead females Breast. I won't explain why in case you haven't seen it. But anyway it was very very very good and it's a shame it's closing!!!:(

At the end of the second act there was so much clapping and pretty much a standing ovation that they did a "Totally Fucked" Encore, which according to Trish is rare.

So then we made our way out of the theater to stage door again, and I got the posters signed and pictures with the lead males (Aneurin for the second time) and one with Jamie Blackley, who is super sweet and very gentlemanly!!!

A good night was had by all, and it was lovely seeing my girls again! The gang was once more truely together!:D

Now, shall we enjoy some pictures???

Me with Richard Cordery

Me with Natasha Barnes

Me with Lucy Barker

Me with Jamie Muscato

Me with Jamie Blackley

Me with Iwan Rheon

Me with Gemma O'Duffy

Me with Evelyn Hoskins

Me with Edd Judge

Me with Sian Thomas

Me with Charlotte Wakefield

And then as desserrttt ! Had everything I thought I would need and then Daisy and Louise came round and we left for Twyford and got on the train to Paddington. OK this is where things began to go a little wrong- I realised I'd forgotten to bring some pictures to get signed for my friend.

Well once we got to Paddington, we went to Covent Garden, The Dress Circle and Cyber Candy, where I got the finsihing touches to my present for Caroline Keiff (Explain later), and then we trotted off to the Apollo Victoria.

We reached the AV soon after about half eleven to find that we couldn't buy programs until One thirty, so I had to go and get a notebook to get signed. And lucky I did, because the first signiture I got was soon after this purchase. A.C Garica.

And it just continued in this way, people coming and going, grabbing people as they walked in an out so many pictures! (See the end of the Blog) And anyway, Kerry came through and i gave her the present i'd made for her, considering that it was meant ot be cast change, until it was changed until the 9th May. And I think she liked it. She liked her home made birthday card as well. And then I had a Bag for Caroline Keiff as well, and well Caroline simply appeared to lover hers! It was so sweet! And she was sooo nice as well! Really chatty! Oh and we gave Liam Tamne a Good Luck card for after cast change, and he was genuinely please to get it, and once he'd sorted himself out, after coming back out to sign things for us, on his way into the Theater again, we were still standing there and he said "Hi Stef" he me!!! I was almost hysterical!!!:P

So anyway, Oli dubbed the 2nd the "Fake Cast Change" and we got full cast as if to make up for the changed cast change!!!

So anyway we went into the Matinee and had a wonderfull show. Di's Popular was amazing, Des forgot his lines during Wonderful, and Kerry kept lasping into an American accent, but personally I liked her Defying Gravity, for the Matinee certainly!!! The evening performace, I was rather underwelmed.

But anyways, after the show, we'd snuck out at the end of the applause to get to Stage Door, and met Kirsty, and got oursleves a place at SD although it was very crowded and you could tell that people were waiting for Kerry, who didn't come out between shows, so many left disappointed. But we had a fabulous time with Alex, Kirsty and Louise, until she had to go, and daisy took her back to Paddington. Before Daisy left with louise, Liam Tamne cam out and we got him to sign the "Hairspray" Advert in the Wicked Program, because after Cast change Liam's going on to become Link in Hairspray, and one of the ensemble members said to him as he signed the adverts "You're not in it yet" as a joke, but we were happy! Then Trish arrived, so we had an entertaining half hour or so, also in the process, loosing Daisy, but then finding her as we needed to go in for the Evening perfromance.

Again another great performance from all the cast, Di's Popular was hilarious, Caroline's WWOE was awesome again, and I just loved the whole of the performace, though No Good Deed, for the second time was underwelming. But never the less, all the fan girls seemed to have arrived and screamed the place down as normal.

Again with getting to the SD, we left at the end of the cheers and I swear, I've never run as quickly up stairs and out a fire escape, buit it paid off, because we were the first people there and at the front of the SD, which is an achievement in it'self. We got the rest of the signitures needed and, had another chat with Caroline and Kerry, and Des and Harriet. So it was all good. then we went home!

So all around it was a good day!!! And here are the pictures to prove it...
<span ASHLEIGH AS ELPHIE!

Ok, so on the 21st March for my birthday (which was the 17th! my 18th!) I got tickets to go and see Wicked.

At the time we brought them we were expecting to see the Great Kerry Ellis, but as it turns out, we get to see the most Amazing Ashleigh Gray, who was mind blowingly Fantasmicgorcial!!! I'm not even kidding!!!

So we started off, getting into London at about One O'clock, too late to catch the cast going into The AV for the Matinee, so we head off to Monmouth Street to have lunch at the Italian Restaurant.

After the usual scrummy Pizza we head to the dress circle where I was able to get the last Green Defy Gravity V-Neck T-shit and "Act One" Songs from The Muscials of Alexander S. Bermange (Which I highly recommed BTW)

After this little excursion, we moved on to Forbidden Planet, where we spent about half an hour browsing merchandise, and I for one, came out very happy. Then we went to Cyber Candy, where you can get sweets from all around the world, then Waterstones.

But we eventually made our way to the AV and Victoria station, baring in mind the Victoria Line was down, so we had to get onto the Circle (Or was it District) line, to get us to the AV. We arrived about five O'clock, so for about fifteen minutes we had a sit down in the station, after I had purchased a new Program for the show, which contained Ashleigh's pull out for her taking Kerry's place on Stage. Also we found out that Stollar was playing the Father and Dr Dillamond, so it was all good.

So anyway about quarter past five we positioned ourself at the stage door gates and waited for the cast to come out. We were not five metres from the door, It was fantastic! First out of the door was Sarah Earnshaw (Earnie) dashing off for food. She hadn't been on, but it felt rude asking for a picture when she appeared to be on a mission. So we let her pass.

Next out was the adorable Liam Tamne, who is Fiyero Understudy, who gladly stopped and signed my program and I had a picture with him, which he was more than happy to have.

So anyway we waited around and people came out and back in again and we caught most of the people. (We saw Oli three times before the evening performance!) So we got a lot of pictures and signitures. It was very fun. Plus made a lot of new friends!!!

We saw a group of the cast go out for a run after the show, and when they came back, my friend wanted a picture with Oli, who was desperate to get inside, so we made it quick. Then Dianne Pilkington rolled up, after her seperate run and was also surprised that we wanted pictures with her, but was so lovely about the whole thing! And Then Caroline Keiff, who is the most lovelist person I have ever met! She was coming back from a jog and was really surprised that we wanted to have pictures. She even said "You were going to say I look horrible weren't you?" When I was telling her that she looked fantastic whatever she thought.

Ashleigh didn't come out after the Matinee, but was recieving a lot of estatic reviews from the people we were stage dooring with!

So after we were satisfied about people coming in and out, we went to the digital photo booth, where you can print out pictures for 20p a snapshot, we printed out the pictures of us with the cast and decided to get them signed after the show.

So now we went and waited in the lobby for the show to start. When we we let in we found that we had some very good seats, althought slightly too far off to the left, and sitting in a draft, which wasn't brilliant, but it was as wonderful as always.

So the show started, with a wonderful enterance from Dianne Pilkington and flowed as wonderfully as usual. There was silence as Ashleigh rolled up onto stage before Dear Old Shiz, and she was mind blowing in the Wizard and I. I said to my friend, "If thats her Wizard and I, I can't wait for her Defying Gravity." And my friend, a first timer, Agreed.

Ash continued her amazing run, her voice was so strong and there was something about the energy she had that Kerry appeared to be lacking since she got back from Broadway.

As predicted Ash's Defying GRavity, stunned and blew all away. She was so strong, powerful and wonderfully raw with emotion that all our jaws almost dropped to the floor. She gave me goosebumps! The whole crowd erupted when she'd finsihed and the curtain swang forward for the interval.

The next surprise of the night was when during the last few notes of Thank Goodness, Di performed the Hilty High Note (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8xVOW9gRXo See Second Clip (Megan Hilty)) which was stunning! And Caroline Keiff belted out Nessa's top note with so much force during the Wicked Witch of the East!

The Rest of the show, the As Long as You're Mine, Oli and Ash and the No Good Deed, so raw and powerful, all but blew my head off. Ashleigh was just one amazing Elphabla, and recieved a highly deserved almost complete standing Ovation at the end of the show!!! My voice was hoarse afterwards!

So as soon as the curtain went down, me and my friends dashed from one side of the theater Auditorium to the other and up out of a fire escape, briefly wondering if we'd set off the fire alarm, to get a good place at stage door, and arrived and managed to stand straight out in front of it!!! First out, as the wonderful Liam, who was all too happy to sign my photo from earlier, sign my friends ticket and have a picture with her, both of them actually. The Oli, and Jeremy Legat, followed by Jake Samuals, and finally, Ashleigh, who was really lovely and smilely and seemed really surprised when we told her how much we loved her performance and how mind blowing it was. She happily stood for pictures for all of us and signed my program, my friends Cyber Candy Bag and my other friends ticket.

So all in all, buzzing as we got onto the train, we had a fantabulous night!!! And the pics below tell it all (note: My friend has my picture of me and Ash, so that will be added at a later date!!!)

This is me with Jake Samuels (Understudy Fiyero!) (In London!) Fully prepared and armed with pens, bags and money, Daisy and I arrived late to meet Trish at Reading Station. Well we got there ok?

When we reached Paddington we took a Taxi to the AV, and waited for some of Trish's stage Door crew to show up. And it was raining.

So when we finally found where we were going there was a long que and it was still raining. I got Daisy to write "Wicked Rocks" on my face in eyeliner. We got in about 12:30 and were given little goodie bags from cast memembers! I got mine from Caroline! We then purchased a cast photo that was taken especially for the day and set about getting it signed.

Straight off we met the wonderful George Ure(Understudy Boq) who was AWESOME! Desmond Barritt who plays the Wizard, and Harriet Thorpe, who plays Madam Morrible! And the wonderful Caroline Keiff!

Then there was the opened bit with some singing by a Stage Coach group and then we dispersed to look around.

Seriously I can't really remeber what Happened after that. We met so many people and it was just fantastic.

I brought a scarf made by a Wicked cast member in the auction, got pics with Dianne Pilkington, Alexia Khadime, Jeremy Legat, Liam Tamne, Geogre Ure, Alex Jessop, Sarah Earnshaw, and OLIVER TOMPSETT!!!:D

There's a bit of a story to the Oli pic actually. I was waiting in line with Daisy to get a picture with Oli, (This is where the "Wicked Rocks" comes into play). At Oli's concert in August, I had written "Olly Rocks" on my face and managed to meet him. Well I got to the front of the que, and Oli looks at me and says "You like writing on your face don't you?" and I was shocked and managed to choke out, "You remember me?" He smiled and said "Yeah!" I literally couldn't breathe! And I got a hug! I was so shocked. And soo happy!:D

Anyway! It was just amazing!:D So here are some of my pics!:D

<a The rolling hills, the running water and the fresh air!

We stopped at Cardingmill Valley, which Malcolm Saville had intended to be Hatchholt Valley in his books, The Lone Pine Adventures. Unfortunatlely, we missed the resivoir becuase we walked up the wrong gully. We did come across the waterfall, featured in Mystery at Witchend, which the Morton children climbed to reach the top of the Mynd, and Dickie got stuck in a bog. Thus leading to the Morton's first encounter and long friendship with Peter (Petronella) Sterling.

Anyway, it was a lovely walk up the valley and well worth the long car journey to see it! It would have been wonderful to see the Resivoir, but we didn't have time if we were going to beat the traffic home.

I'm totally planning to go again, hopefully next year when I can drive myself and hopefully take a friend with me to explore the Mynd properly, because you can't explore somewhere like The Long Mynd in a day!

It was the most beautiful place ever, and it's almost on our own doorstep (England as a whole is what I meant) and people just don't realise it and jet off all over the world!

It made me feel more British for seeing those hills and walking on them!

After walking back down the valley, we stopped off at the gift shop. I was surprised to find some Enid Blyton jigsaw's. As I chatted to the lady behind the counter she recommended that I visit Corfe Castle and visit the Ginger Pop shop! I couldn't have put it better myself!

As I climbed the Valley, a few well choosen pharses, one penned by Enid Blyton were floating around in my mind. Enid's well choosen words were from Five go to Finniston Farm, and are said by Julian after the five had been taken around the farm's fields by the farm hand.

He says"Well seeing all those fields made me feel more English!" Obviously, nowadays we'd say "British" if we said anything like that at all!

The second phase was based on Enid Blyton, but written by the screenplay writer on the 90's series of the Famous Five, which was said by Julian again (Played by Marco Williamson, for those interested). In Mystery Moor, after finding the train tracks on a ride on the Moor, at tea time, Julian says to the Johnson's as they try to persaude them to let the Five camp on the moor; "You can't explore properly. Not in a day!"

Which in the Long Mynd's case is extremely true. I'd love to go back and take a week or two to explore it properly. To absorb an area when Men have hardly made a mark!

Before we left Church Stretton, we paused at a local bookshop, where I managed to pick up a replacement copy of The Secret of Grey Walls, by Malcolm Saville, for what I would call a reasonable price. Then it was off home, leaving the wonderfil world of the Long Mynd to be explored again, another Day!

Oliver Tompsett's Concert at Bush Hall on 10/08/2008

Last night Oliver Tompsett played his only concert of 2008 at Shepards Bush Hall in London.

The music was brilliant and it was the best time. The warm up bad was good, but their efforts went largely un noticed because everyone was waiting for Oli. They got a good reception when the played a Wicked related song, about Fiyero, Oli's Character in Wicked!

Oli got a well deserved reception when he turned up on stage. All the songs from his Deubt Album, Sentimental Heart were played along with some covers and some new material.

There was literally no room to move as eveyone danced, clapped and cheered for Oli and his wonderful Band! Holly James, his backing vocalist was fantastic and did her own solo perfromance with Duffy's hit, Mercy! She is one amazing Woman!

Oli's brother Ben was fantastic! He was on the keybored and played the Sax while Oli had a break and was cheered as much as Oli was.

After a short break for Oli, he came back on with Ashley Grey, who is the Standby for Elphaba in Wicked and does a duet with Oli on his album. She was cheered for a good few minutes before they could even start the song, Count on Me.

It was all so brilliant. People were clapping and cheering and the gig could have gone on all night and we wouldn't have noticed!

When it got to the end of the Gig, which ended on a high with Rollercoaster and Femme Fatal, people started to leave.

We hung about a bit afterwards and met the current West End Elphaba, Alexia Khadime;
Caroline Keiff who plays Nessa Rose;
Sarah Earnshaw and Ashley Grey the standbys. We rushed over, and waited patiently as he talked to some friends. His Dad cut in and presented us! Oli was soo nice! He was lovely. He signed my copy of the album, Daisy's copy of the poster for the gig. And he signed a picture of himself for my friend. Then we got a picture with him! And a hug!

Then his Dad, called Ben over, as Oli went back stage. We got his autograph, and he was really sweet because he didn't think we really wanted them. But again I got my album signed and the picture. And Daisy got her flyer signed, and we got a picture with Ben as well!

It was one swell Night! And we made some new friends, who are more fanatical about Wicked than Daisy and I are! When we were just leaving the women who had given me my free signed poster, pulled us over to a man with camera and asked us to talk about the gig. We did as she asked, and it turned out it's going to be released on DVD!!!! So Daisy and I are going to be on Oli's concert DVD!!!

Anyway! it was brilliant and I'm glad that Oliver Tompsett was my first Gig!:D

Can't wait to see Wicked or Oli again!!

S
xx

Driving Test

Well I passed my theory test on Monday! It states the basic truth of friends. What it doesn't tell you is the trouble, the patience, the trust, the secrets and the laughter which being friends with someone is meant to be.

Another way to define Friendships is someone with whom you feel comfortable. A friendship is another way to not find yourself on your own, and it's meant to alienate the feeling of loneliness.

But like any good relationship, you have to work at maintaining them, very much like a garden, weeding out the weeds and nurturing the flowers to make them grow.

When this break down, it all breaks down, and however hard you try to save it, the harder it becomes, because everything is popping up when you turn your back on it.

You try and try to saveage what is left, but you know, deep down that all is lost. It is broken beyond repair. And one thing that once could be fixed is blown out of proportion and makes everything irreverisable.

Friendships have to be nurtured, and have to be allowed to grow. They can become stale and dry like bread, and dead like the bleakest environment on earth.

The smallest thing can crack the ice in the beginning, just as the smallest thing can push it right over the edge.

Letting go is the hardest part, because in the really good relationship, and friendship alike, you don't want to let go of what you once had, and facing up to the fact that all is over, is one of th bravest things anyone can do. Moving is another huge step, and healing can take ages.

But the worst part is knowing that you've lost something really good from your life and you'll never have anything else like it. There will be other relationships and friendships but they all differ from each other, like people.

The fact is, you have to learn to move on with your life. The hardest part has yet to come.

Idina Menzel!!!!!!!!!!!

I met her! Today in fact, the lovely lady herself in London, at the Dress Circle showbiz shop!

Me and My friend were going to see her, and went up to London to see her, and get copies of her album signed!!! OH MY GOSH!

Well, we first we got lost! Went the wrong way, because I thought I knew where I was going and didn't. It turns out I have a crap sence of direction when I don't have a map in front of me! But anyway, we found the line eventually! It was well long!

Idina Menzel arrived at about One o'clock and and you could hear her arrival because all the fans at the front started yelling and screaming! Being relatively near the back, we couldn't see her arrival, but we saw her leave, but more about that later.

We were standing in the driizzle for about two hours, inching slowly forward towards the shop! We were getting board, and a Danish Gentlemen kept us amused, along with two very nice Amercian Ladies behind us.

Finally we were in the shop, CD's at the ready, cameras out, and suddenly excited.

Then we went down these steps in to the basement of the shops and There was Idina Menzel, sitting and signing copies of her New Album, I Stand, which I highly recommend. People were taking pictures, and as we were told that we couldn't have pictures taken with Idina, we were snapping away. Although when we got down there, an assisstant asked if we wanted pictures (She managed to cut the top of my head off- A nice one of Idina Menzel, but not of me!;-))

So we got to meet her, if only for a second or two, but it was amazing, because she was such an amazing person. She had only been going to stay for an hour, and decided to hang on to the end, and she didn't seem upset about that in the least, although it probably was exhausting for her! So kudos for Idina Menzel for sticking to it!

Once we were out of the shop, we went to get some lunch, and in probably the quickest meal ever recorded in the restaurant we were in, we were outside again, to see her leave the Dress Circle. She was just amazing!

So after we found a cash point and got some money, and once we were sure it was all ok to go back into the shop, we went back and I found the second best thing of the day- The Wicked Grimmarie! Oh Blessed day! For at least five pounds cheaper than at the Appollo theater! Shame I couldn't get Idina Menzel to sign it, but still it was a lucky find! There were only two left!

So all in all one brilliant day! And even better- Seeing Wicked in three weeks again! Yay! Just before Kerry Ellis goes to Amercia!

OH MY GOD!!! One minute, I want to be with my mates having a laugh, but when I'm with them I don't want to be there. ARGH! It's one of those things that make you so mad with yourself that you don't know what to do.

Anyway these mood swings have probably cost me a friend this week. I cut over her when she was trying to apologise for winding me up earlier that day. I shouldn't have got wound up, of course, but it's part of my personality, and I did. Anyway she's not talking to me now and probably for good reason because of what I did, and I don't know what to say to my other friends because she is rather popular.

The basics are that I can't seem to keep my temper, or my cool, or anything else recently. Right now for example I want to sit down and weep, but I know I can't because I would be being silly.

I know these are not excuses, but I am Tired, exams are only a week or so away and I've just got off my period. I know they are not excuses for snapping at my friends, but everything mounts up surely.

Benefit of doubt maybe?

iPod-less

So for the first time in about a year and a half, I find myself iPod-less!

The headphone connection broke sometime on Monday, as I realised when I was walking home from school after Geography! At first I thought it was the head phones, because sound was only coming out of one side of them, but ..r investigation it wasn't the headphones, because no other headphone or my iPod speakers worked either, thus leading me to the conclusion that it was the headphone connection that was broken.

So, after having got my dad to take it in to the place where were brought it, and being told we had to send it to Apple, we found out that only two Apple shops in the area are in London! Instead we checked the site to see if there was anyone around who could fix it, and to cut a long story short, we found someone in Caversham who could fix it for about sixty quid which is not bad considering how much I paid for the iPod!

The snag is that the iPod can't actually be repaired, which means that they replace my iPod with a brand new(ish) one, as in same make, same edition, but without the fault, and needing my music to be uploaded to tbe iPod again.
Not that I'm complaining too much. I mean I get a new one, for a very low price, and in about five days, so thats like on Monday or Tuesday! Soon!

And until then I have my mum's MP3 to keep me entertained! I had my own a few years back, but I can't say I liked it. It was all a bit too fidderly for me, and I wasn't a fan.

My first digital portable music device was an old iPod Mini, which was second hand and was on it's last legs and didn't last long, and was Pink, but it was brilliant! And when it broke I wanted another one, but my parents said "no". Instead they got me a MP3 for my birthday which wasn't what I wanted but took it with good grace. Needless to say, it didn't last very long.

Finally, with a job, money and some persauding I was allowed to but my 5th Edition Classic 30 gig iPod, and have never looked back. Now I'm without it and have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to have a "New" one in place of my old one, sent and picked up!

Ah well. We can't always have it our way!

WICKED!!!

Today I went to see the Musical Wicked, with two close friends!

What can I say that hasn't already been said before! The costumes were a delightfully crazy!

The singing- oh the singing- not a note out of place! Kerry Ellis was Fab-u-Lous!
UNluckily Diane Pilkington wasn't on stage as Galinda/Glinda but her stand in Sarah Earnshaw was a very good choice to fill the shoes of Glinda!

Alas the Lovely Oliver Tompsett was not in this Matinee Performance, but his stand in, Dougal Irvine was a very strong vocalist!

The show was a huge aray of colours, catchy songs, and touching moments between friends, sisters and Lovers.

And the little twist at the end of the show added something special to the performance. The book doesn't have this twist which makes the show unqiue from the book. I could have sat there for hours watching this show, and am kept prepared to see it again as soon as possible! Fully worth splashing out on!

The show does vary from the book, but is as good as the original writing of MacGuire. The shows livilness, and the involvement, enthrals everyone. Each song got it's indiviual round of applause, but at the end of the show, although there was a huge amount of tulmutuilous applause, there was no sign of a full standing ovation. There were pockets of people standing and clapping and cheering wildly in which I took part!

The show was very uplifting and I can't wait to go and see it again, before the cast is re shuffled in June 2008.

I'm quite willing to five Wicked! A five star rating! *****

if you get the chance to go and see Wicked, I suggest you do! It's a brilliant experience and a lovely show!

WICKED WAS AWESOME! lol

New Books!

"Oh Gosh! That's wonderful! Thank you!" David Morton breathed excitedly down the phone, as his twelve year old twin brother and sister, Dickie and Mary hopped excitedly up and down waiting for him to finish.

David put the phone down, and turned around to face his brother and sister, his eye gleaming.

"What was that all about David?" Mary squeaked, seeing the excitement in her brothers eyes, "Who was on the phone?"

"Not now twins," David said, "Get on your bikes and go and get Tom and Jenny from Ingles, tell them we have an impromptu club meeting! Dickie asked, "She's with Peter!"

"Then I'll tell Peter to bring Harriet as well," David said nodding, "Now go on!"

The twins, ran for their bicycles, willing this once to carry out David's orders to find out what the mysrtious phone call had been about.

Half an hour later, the Lone Pine club members stood under their old Pine tree on the side of the Long Mynd. Hasn't he Dickie?" She added turning to her twin.

"Hm? Yes, he did," Dickie said, poking the fire.

"Look, shut up and let David talk," Tom said glaring at the twins.

"Yes please do," Jenny gulped happily, "Is it thrilling David? Peter said, smiling, "Our books back in print again!"

"Smashing!" I was speaking to the women who owns the bookshop and she said that she would let me know after talking to the Evan's representative who calls at the shop every month whether they have the rights, and the manuscript to re-print the Lone Pine adventures, which were probably Saville's best known work!

The Lone Pine adventures, follow the fortunes and adventures of nine children ranging from the youngest (The Twins Dickie (Richard) and Mary Morton) at about nine in the first adventure (Mystery at Witchend) to eighteen nineteen at the end (Home to Wicthend) where they're older brother David is at least eighteen.

The books started in the middle of the Second World War, when the Morton Family, minus Mr Morton- who has gone to be a fighter pilot in the RAF, go to stay up in Shropshire on the Long Mynd in a cottage called Witchend. From there they meet a girl called Petronella Sterling, who likes to be called Peter, and Tom Ingles, who works on his Uncle's farm, similarly named. From there they go on to have adventures together.

In the second book, Seven white gates, the Five of them meet, Jenny Harman, who becomes a member of the Lone Piners. And In The Third Book, they meet Jon and Penny Warrender, who are cousins who live in Rye, where the Morton's go on Holiday.

They don't meet they're last member, Harriet Sparrow, until Book ten, Lone Pine London, where Jon asks Harriet to show him the way home, because he's lost in London, while staying with the Mortons.

Without giving anything away, that's as breif an outline as you'll get from me. But I have to say, after being introduced to them a few years ago through my Mum's old copies of orginal print, I would love to own a selection of my own, to read so the orginal copies that I already have can be preserved.

Saville has become one of my most favourite authors next to the work of Enid Blyton. Much the same style as Enid, Saville's adventures seem to be aimed at the slightly older audience, but are just as thrilling as Enid's which at the beginning were written around the same time.

One major difference I can see between these two authors and they're "Best work" in my opinion, the Famous Five by Enid Blyton and The Lone Pine Adventures by Malcolm Saville is that after a period of time, where the post War rationing etc had burned off, Saville decided to age his characters, of course giving him more possible storylines, where as Blyton decided to try and keep her characters all the same age for the duration of her series, to keep the books aimed at Children.

But I must say, both sets of books, will never stop being a thrilling read for me, because of the magic of them. Alright I didn't read Saville until a few years ago, but I was able to apperciate his style and plots more, but Blyton never has lost her appeal to me, and I hope that as I get older (And Hopefully wiser) that both authors, and both sets of books, remain as dear to me as they are now, and that I can encourage more people to read some of the greatest Children's classics of the 20th Century!

The New Famous Five! A Whole Load of Crap!

Right, So I know my first post was on the new update of the Famous Five, but suddenly over at least Four British Papers today, there have been articles on the New animation series.

I get that to get people to read the books you might have to make an animation of the books, but that does not mean that you have to update it so much that it is as unreconisable as The Famous Five- which it orginally started out as!

I suppose for most Enid Blyton Fans the definitive series of The Famous Five was the 1976 Version- which is fair enough. But as a "Verteran" Of the 1996 series I have to say along with Many others that this is going to spoil the Magic of the books and the Magic of Enid Blyton herself!

I see the point in updating the stories to Animation, but why change every single thing about The Famous Five!

These characters will become icons for the next gernation for potential Enid Blyton Fans! They will come to read the books and fall flat on them because of the fact that they are nothing like the TV Series that they grew up with!

Obviously things would have to change, for Political correctness sake (Although God knows why, Because the books are of their time) that you would have to have Ethnic Diversity, but seriously! They thing is un reconisable from it's counter-part!

To prove my point, I have posted the links to the articles in the papers, today! The Sun is particulally interesting because it has a very bad clip of the first episode! The Sound's a bit crap!

Well see what you think and Let me know you're thoughts and feelings!

Stef

Check out the whole load of crap coming from the mouths of Disney!
The Sun with added Video!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article938216.ece

The Telegraph!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/19/nfive119.xml

The Times!

http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article3584003.ece

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://stefsthinkingplace.blogspot.com/2008/03/new-famous-five-whole-load-of-crap.html' title='The New Famous Five! I have my first Driving lesson next Thursday! I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm having some friends over tomorrow for pizza and a movie. And I suppose we'll muck around a bit too! Nothing like having friends over to lighten the spirits.

I suppose you're sitting there, reading this and thinking to yourself- She's seventeen, why isn't she having this great big party and total mash up? Well this is because there is more to life than drink! I don't have big parties because I'd have to clear up all the mess.

I am not above drinking as a rule, I just don't see it as necessary to go out every Friday, and Saturday Night and get mashed down the park, where anything could happen. I'm quite happy with simple things such as the Internet, my books, and my music.

You don't need Alcohol to have a good time, and it does so much damage to your body, It's a wonder anyone still has a body left. But to have a really good time, you're mates are the most important thing out there! You can be drunk, and lonely. You can be lonely in a crowd. But with a few really good mates, you can have a fabulous time!

Now I not saying that Alcohol is a bad thing, taken in moderation it can be a good thing, But too much can be bad for you.

Now I'm looking forward to Monday for several reasons;

It's My Birthday!! (Obvious)

I haven't got Chemistry (YAY! I'm failing and not having Chem on my birthday is a great Birthday Present!)

I don't have to go to work (Nuff said)

And Of course, PRESENTS! YAY! The best bit about birthdays!

So as you can see, I can't wait for my Birthday! The one day a year, I would say I'm allowed to be a little selfish!

LOL Just Kidding!

Stef

Valentines

So It's almost that time of year again when all the plants start blooming and everything starts warming up (Well maybe not in Feburary) but then in the middle of next month what is it?

Bloody

Fucking

Valentines

Just so all the people out there haven't realised it's the one day of the year when the people who haven't got anyone to share that day on are riddiculed for not having someone.

It's ridiculous. A Saints day has turned into some sort of commercial holiday just like everything else, and it's when men and women all over the world (Well in those countries that celebrate Valentines) spend God knows how much money on cheap gimmicks that their 'Sweetheart' will probably dislike and put to one side anyway!!!

Maybe I wouldn't be so cynical if i had a signifcant other. But as it is, I don't and will be spendning another Valentines day at home, alone, with a huge bar of chocolate, some ice cream and lots of movies, not to mention and hell crap load of homework for AS. So those are my valentines plans.

Although for those of you who know, and you know who you are, there might (Although probably not be) a surprise. I Dare Not even hope. I'll keep you posted.

Now here's the part where I start blaming Men for the whole concept but on this side of things I think that Women are as much to blame as men, due to the fact that sterotypically we're meant to be the soppy ones.
And anyway, no one's going to read this and no one cares what one person thinks in the midst of all the lovey dovey merriment that engulfs the majority of the world when Febuary 14th dawns.

There will be no sane people left because all the singles will be doing nothing and all the couples out doing whatever they want, and it's the one night a year a guy cannot be ridiculed for being romantic. (Though that might be an understatement- whatever day of the year it is, men always get the piss taken out of them)

I will be hiding under my duvet if anyone wants me

Stef

Mentoring

So in the end it was a bad idea.
I went into the room where they were doing the interviews sat down, and no one know what the fuck was going on.

So I said no.

I'd obviously trod on some toes so I said bugger it. I know I'd be good at it, but i won't do it because you've mucked me- and the others about- so very much that I don't think I can do it.
I mean, what the head of sixth form had in mind for me, was being in charge of mentors, yes but of the year ten mentors who had been specially trained, by one of our Deputy Heads (Well I'm not meant to say that anymore- it's Vice Principle! DON'T ASK!)
And that wasn't something I wanted to do. I mean I'm sure that the Year 10's are nice and everything but I don't think they'd like having to report (Which Is what they'd be doing ) back to someone who's two years older than them.

In my mind it just wouldn't work.

So i said my piece and it was all very well, them saying that I could manage such a job, but with the Library taking up so much of my time, I really couldn't see how it would work.
And i don't feel that I am really appreciated by people outside of the library, and then I get told that it isn't true, but i know it is really.

So anyway, made the point that I'm probably doing more community Service than the others will do in a year. And that seemed to clinch the deal really.
I mean I'd put myself out there for deputy head girl, and then someone who didn't even run for it, got it because they allowed her to run for it. It's like a consolation prize. And I get told, you should go for community captain. And then The Mentoring thing. I was like Fine, I'll do it.
Then I upset everybody on the head team, pissed everybody off, and decided to end it there and then, because there was no point in me wasting what would have been a good talent, and putting something on thee back burner just because of something that would have taken up a very large percentage of my time, and I would have not have had a defined role for.

For once in my life I needed to say no, and be just the tiny bit selfish, because I've been spreading myself so thin, and That school has given nothing back to me, since the day I arrived. Apart from an education.

The thing is that they're still trying to talk me into it, they want to see how a Christmas break has effected my feelings towards this. Well nothing will change. I've put too much out there to have it thrown away again, and this time, this time, I want to be just a little bit selfish, to save myself from myself.

To save myself a little dignity.

The people in that school judge on looks only, which makes me, pretty much at the bottom of the food chain. they don't care whether I'd be good at the job, all they care about is who their friends are and who will give them the best deal.
And it's all very well for the Head of KS5 to say that if she had a choice then i would be on that head team, but I'm not am I? thanks to my peers, I'm on the outside, where they believe that I belong.

So I can't say that I haven't done it, but I have, and I'm quite happy with my decesion thanks very much.

I'll stay where I am in the Library, but Politics is not my forte.

Here it is then, the first rant of 2008, which really should have been written down in 2007, but there you go.
I forgot, plain as.

Stef

Right, Ok

Ok so I said to the Teacher who's head of Sixth Form in my schoolt that I would got for Community captain, because all the teachers who obivously didn't think that I was good enough for the Job as Deputy Head Girl thought I'd be brilliant as a Community Captain.

Ok, ok, I crumbled, but I still get be on the head team, I just don't get to make any important descitions and start up out Mentoring system for the greenies (thats what we call the younger years who wear the grean uniform). Now That I believe that I would have been good at.

The Girl who got deputy, now I'm not saying that she's not a nice girl, but she has her own adgenda which I don't think includes the mentoring system, which is really a major part of our school plus it has a training scheme which would look good on Appilcation forms for Jobs and Uni, so why don't they want that back on it's feet, plus it would probably count as Community service as well, for all the sixth formers who are giving up their time to help the little ones.

I was thinking of asking if I could revive it anyway. She's more popular and probably came second in the Running for Head Girl, (She ran for both) which I think makes it stupid for her to run as Deputy, but there you go. I'm not it end of.

And Now they want me to run for Community Captain, meaning I'll still have a place on the head team, just not Deputy Head Girl. Which sucks, because more people want to be Community Captains, than did who wanted to be Head Girl. Everyone thinks this would be a better thing for me, but I'm not so sure. I don't want to have to run around everyone else and clear up other peoples mistakes. As Deputy I would have had a lot more say in the matter, and this way, I'll just be setting myself up for more disappointment. Because lets face it, none one's going to vote for me.

So now, all the teachers think I should go for this community captain thing, and I don't want to, because I'll be setting myself up for more disappointment.:[

I know it's probably a daft thing to have done in the first place, but I thought that I might have had enough respect from my peers to have won their vote and have shown them what a good job I could have done. But no, we want the very so bright ever so popular clever clogs. I know, she's a nice person really, but i don't think that they should have been allowed to run, it just sucppered everyone else's chances.

Life geuninally sucks. And the saddest part of it is, that sometimes, it's no one's fault but your own, and thats the worst part.
For a few minutes I was actaully beginning to believe that I would get in and I would be able to change things, and help things to improve for a way that allowed me to be remembered as someone who made a difference in the School and in Sixth Form. Not the strange little geeky girl who helped out in the library a lot.

So here I am, no power, nothing to my name, nada, nothing, not even a smidge. Then the whole stress of the thing which meant that I was running around like a mad thing thinking that I could make a difference to the one sided vote.

Anyway, it was hustings tonight, where all the propective candidates make their speeches on why they would be a good person to have on the head team etc, and so I've been really nervous all day and then after school it came down to the speeches.
The Boys went first. It was hard to decide who I would give my vote too, but in the end, i think it went to who I think is the right person.
Anyway, it was getting nearer the time for me to make my speech. So I was counting down the perspective head girls, and then, everything was alright, the girls were getting laughs and i was thinking "ohhhhh crap" and then it was my turn.

I was shaking like hell, honestly I was, and I began. No laughs, no claps, just silence, I was going as red as a tomato. I kept on going, i had to. I was the shittest thing there and I and everyone else apart from my friends (Who denied it) knew it.
I sat down, shaking like hell, feeling sooo sick. The other gril who's going for Deputy got up, and to huge roars and cheers, and laughes and claps started her speech. That was when I knew I had deffently lost...

Voting for Deputy's is on monday, but I'm not holding my breathe. It won't be me. trust me. I'm not holding out much confidence...

Stef OUt

New Famous Five

The Famous Five

The Famous Five. The new TV series looks horrible. It really does, doesn't even sound like the FF.

I understand that it has to be updated, PC and all that, but why not keep the orginal adventures and names, in the very least. Changing the names, and the adventures, seems to take away the very essence of the Famous Five. They wouldn't be the famous five if you didn't have a stroppy George, a joking Dick, a Loyal (If slightly washy) Anne, and a bossy Julian. It's just not the same. And AMERICAN! That's what angered me the most, it is being written by AMERICAN's who had to have the orginal text changed for them in the first place. If you are going to bring back the FF, then please make sure that you use English writers who understand why we don't want one of best selling and well known books changed to such lengths.

Ok, ok, it wouldn't be very PC if they were all white, I get that, but what can you do? You can't really dig up old Enid, and get her to re-write them.
Leaving them the way they are allows people, kids mainly, to see the way that things changed from one time to the next. Next they'll be changing the history to make it more PC.

First books, then fact.

It just doesn't work like that.

Lord help us.

Peace out

Stef

PS:
If any of the above offends you, i'm sorry.
